First bred in 1997, The Jackson Command Dog is a very new breed. Soon after the SGC Dog Unit (SGCDU) program was launched, it became apparent that the dogs could not handle constant gate travel in the same way that humans could. It was decided that Captain Carter and her team would have to come up with an alternative. They cross bred Belgian Malinois, German Shepherds, Dobermans and Beauceron. They then developed a way of bonding Goa'uld DNA and Naquadah to the dogs DNA. The Naquadah gave the dogs increased speed, strength, stamina and intelligence.
